To investigate real-world methotrexate prescription practices and consumption trends among outpatients receiving care for rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis.
Conducted a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of methotrexate consumption in 2018, 2020, and 2023 utilizing the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical and defined daily dose (ATC/DDD) methodology.

Methotrexate consumption increased between 2018 and 2023 from 302,428.6 to 319,114.3 defined daily doses (DDDs) per 1,000 patients/year for rheumatoid arthritis, and from 28,157.1 to 310,771.6 DDDs per 1,000 patients/year for psoriatic arthritis.
The most frequently prescribed dosage of methotrexate was 15 mg/week.
A combination of methotrexate and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs was prescribed for 55.8% of patients, with 32.7% concurrently receiving glucocorticoids alongside frequent prescriptions for proton pump inhibitors and cholecalciferol.
