What is the health-related quality of life of patients following minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement?
Minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement is associated with good postoperative health-related quality of life.
Supports good HRQoL after endoscopic MVR; leaves open need for randomized comparisons to conventional surgery.
Objective: To evaluate the Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of patients following minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement at the Cardiovascular Center of E Hospital.[1] Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 46 cases following minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement at Cardiovascular Center of Hospital E from 1/1/2021 to 31 /21/2021, using the SF-36 questionnaire. Results: The mean score of 4 physical health domains including phýical functioning, functional limitations, bodily pain and general health were: 77,12; 70,38; 68,21, and 52.57. The average scores of the four mental health domains including including vitality, social functioning, role emotional and general mental health are: 79.24; 68.21; 88.7 and 75, respectively. Factors related to HRQOL of patients following minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopically assisted mitral valve replacement are age, occupation, and economic status of the patient. Conclusion: The total points of HRQOL in all areas were quite and quite good. Therefore, minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement is an indication for clear improvement in postoperative patients.

Thanh et al. (2022) conducted a cross-sectional in Mitral valve disease requiring replacement (n=46). Minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement was evaluated on Overall health-related quality of life (SF-36 score). Patients following minimally invasive open-heart surgery with endoscopic support for mitral valve replacement reported a quite good overall health-related quality of life with a mean SF-36 score of 72.5.
