Teachers as co-designers, co-authors, and facilitators W ith increased infusion of computing in our daily lives, computing and computing education fields are pushed to highlight the connections between computing, people, communities, and societies. However, what is under-examined is how teachers make sense of justice within computing classrooms and in other professional contexts that often devalue their expertise and professional wisdom. With more than 15 years of experience working with teachers, we share a case study of a group of high school teachers within the Exploring Computer Science (ECS) teacher community that furthered justice-oriented computing education as co-designers and co-authors of curricular materials and teacher professional development (PD) agendas, and as co-researchers, PD facilitators, and teachers inside and outside classrooms.
