DDD pacing eliminates symptoms and a 60 mmHg LVOT gradient in HCM with AV block.
Why the study?
Complete atrioventricular block is very unusual in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and its association with LVOT gradient changes after pacing is not well described.
Does DDD pacing improve symptoms and reduce LVOT gradient in a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and complete AV block?

Does DDD pacing improve symptoms and reduce LVOT gradient in a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and complete AV block?
DDD pacing can effectively eliminate symptoms and LVOT gradient in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy complicated by complete AV block.

Complete AV block can occur in young HCM patients; case extends arrhythmic spectrum but leaves open prevalence and mechanisms.
A 1999 study conducted a case report in Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and complete atrioventricular block (n=1). DDD pacemaker implantation was evaluated on Symptoms and left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) gradient. DDD pacemaker implantation in a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and complete AV block eliminated symptoms and resulted in complete disappearance of the 60 mmHg LVOT gradient at 6 months.
