Ozaki procedure offers a viable pediatric aortic valve reconstruction option to restore natural cusp dynamics.
Why the study?
Current surgical methods for pediatric aortic valve disease have inherent limitations, and the risks and benefits of various options remain debated, necessitating exploration of new surgical alternatives.
The OZAKI procedure, which reconstructs aortic valve leaflets using autologous pericardium, is proposed as a viable surgical option for growing children with aortic valve disease.
OZAKI reconstruction may be considered in select pediatric aortic valve cases; leaves open need for prospective durability data during somatic growth.
