Novelty: Novel thiazolylbenzofuran derivatives are disclosed with leukotriene D4 inhibitory activity. They are claimed to be useful in the treatment of inflammatory or allergic conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, inflammatory bowel disease and chronic obstructive lung disease.Biology: [3H]-Leukotriene D4 receptor binding activity in guinea-pig lung membrane preparations was determined by standard radioligand techniques. An IC50 of 38.2 nM was determined for one of the specifically claimed compounds.Chemistry: Fifty-three compounds were exemplified by synthesis and 5(2-[2-(4-tert-butylthiazol-2-yl)benzofuran-5-yloxymethyl]-phenylmeth yl)-1H-tetrazole is specifically claimed.
