In Telling Tales, the British Nigerian poet Patience Agbabi offers an adaptation of The Canterbury Tales through remix. The present article examines Agbabi’s remix from two interrelated dimensions: poetic form and narrative voice. It argues that her remix is not merely a matter of artistic technique, but is closely bound up with the poet’s cultural stance as a black British poet, embodying her ideal of reinventing Englishness. Through case studies, this article further proposes that remix should be understood as a mode of literary adaptation with methodological value, one that may broaden the scope of adaptation studies.
