On the invitation of Uchitel'skaia gazeta, we gathered for a two-day meeting in the settlement of Peredelkino, near Moscow, to share ideas that we have developed during twenty-five years of experimental work in our classrooms and schools. It turns out that, working separately and not even knowing about each other, we have come to the same conclusions. Evidently, these conclusions are verifiable and important, and they need to be shared. We could not, naturally, encompass all areas of teaching and upbringing, and many important pedagogical issues are not touched upon here or are not examined as thoroughly as they should be.
