Comparative study shows fewer cardiotoxic reactions with Cardio-Conray than Conray 420 in angiocardiography, suggesting improved safety for cardiac imaging.
A comparative study has been made in selective angiocardiography using Cardio-Conray, a meglumine iothalamate 52 per cent w/v sodium iothalamate 26 w/v mixture and Conray 420, a 70 per cent w/v sodium iothalamate as contrast media. Cardio-Conray is a satisfactory medium and gives excellent results compared with the images resulting from the use of Conray 420. There appear to be less cardiotoxic reactions to Cardio-Conray than to Conray 420. An accidental pericardial injection of Cardio-Conray did not appear to have caused persistent ill-effects from a transient cardiac tamponade.
