Intraoperative TOE detects inverted left atrial appendage during weaning from bypass after ring annuloplasty.
Why the study?
Intraoperative transoesophageal echocardiography findings during mitral valve repair in patients with non-ischaemic dilated cardiomyopathy and severe mitral regurgitation require detailed description.
Case Report (n=1)
This case report describes the intraoperative transoesophageal echocardiography finding of an inverted left atrial appendage following mitral valve repair.

Bouzas‐Mosquera et al. (2009) conducted a case report in Non-ischaemic dilated cardiomyopathy and severe mitral regurgitation (n=1). Mitral valve repair (ring annuloplasty) was evaluated. Intraoperative transoesophageal echocardiography during weaning from cardiopulmonary bypass after ring annuloplasty revealed an inverted left atrial appendage in a 59-year-old woman.
