SUMMARY Most approaches used- by business schools to teach international business assist students in developing an awareness of global business issues. They help students to begin to recognize the international implications of their decisions. However, it is also important to actively move students towards “global competence.” If students are going to be effective in an international economy they need to develop skills to be able to learn how to understand and operate effectively in other cultures. The program described here utilizes a project-based action learning approach to assist undergraduate students to learn “global competence.”
