As one of the most broad studies photocatalysts, TiO2 still has draw backs such as wide band gap, poor reusability and recombination of photogenerated electron-holes. A novel composite catalyst (BiOCl/C-TiO2), BiOCl nanoneedles modified C-doped TiO2 nanobelts hetero-structures, was fabricated by electrospinning process coupled with solvothermal and calcination method. The composite photodegraded 89.8% tetracycline and the reaction rate constant was 0.0195 min-1 within 60 min in visible-light irradiation (λ 420 nm), which had superior photocatalytic activity, stability and universality. Which benefiting from its well-defined morphology as well as coexisted of carbon-doped and p-n type heterogeneous structure. That also can enlarged specific surface area, improved photogenerated carriers mobility and enhanced visible light absorption. The intermediate products, mineralization pathways and reaction mechanism of the photocatalytic degradation reaction of TC were inferred by trapping experiments, electron spin resonance (ESR) and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis. In this study, a composite that coexisted of carbon-doped and p-n type heterogeneous structure with enhanced the TiO2 visible light photocatalytic performance was designed and supplied.
