Key result
ACURATE neo TAVR is linked to favorable long-term outcomes and progressive paravalvular leak reduction.
Why the study?
The long-term clinical and echocardiographic performance of the ACURATE neo bioprosthesis in elderly patients undergoing TAVR in real-world settings was not well characterized beyond randomized trials.
Does TAVR with the ACURATE neo bioprosthesis provide good long-term clinical and echocardiographic outcomes in elderly patients?
Observational
Does TAVR with the ACURATE neo bioprosthesis provide good long-term clinical and echocardiographic outcomes in elderly patients?
In real-world elderly patients, the ACURATE neo bioprosthesis demonstrates good mid to long-term clinical and echocardiographic outcomes, with progressive reduction in paravalvular leak severity.
Supports ACURATE neo consideration in elderly TAVR; leaves open randomized confirmation of long-term durability.
Highlights In elderly patients, TAVR with the ACURATE neo™ bioprosthesis is associated with good mid to long‐ term clinical outcomes, progressive reduction of PVL severity over time and no warnings of structural valve deterioration or bioprosthetic valve failure. The long‐term echocardiographic performance of the ACURATE neo™ bioprosthesis in real‐world patients is better than anticipated in randomized trials. Further studies need to clarify longer terms outcomes of TAVR with the ACURATE neo™ bioprosthesis and technical tips to mitigate the occurrence of moderare or severe PVL.

Franzone et al. (2021) conducted an observational in Aortic valve disease (undergoing TAVR). TAVR with ACURATE neo bioprosthesis was evaluated on Clinical outcomes, paravalvular leak (PVL) severity, and structural valve deterioration. TAVR with the ACURATE neo bioprosthesis in elderly real-world patients was associated with good mid to long-term clinical outcomes and progressive reduction of paravalvular leak severity over time.
