Key result
ACE insertion/deletion polymorphism shows no association with breast cancer risk across genotypes.
Why the study?
Polymorphisms of the angiotensin I converting enzyme gene have been inconsistently associated with breast cancer risk.
Is the ACE insertion/deletion polymorphism associated with breast cancer risk?
Meta-Analysis (n=4,466)
Is the ACE insertion/deletion polymorphism associated with breast cancer risk?
Odds Ratio: 1 (95% CI 0.76–1.33)
The ACE I/D polymorphism does not appear to be a genetic risk factor for breast cancer.

No association between ACE I/D polymorphism and breast cancer risk; leaves open whether RAAS variants influence oncogenesis in larger cohorts.
Sun et al. (2011) conducted a meta-analysis in Breast cancer (n=4,466). ACE insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism vs. Controls (without breast cancer) was evaluated on Breast cancer risk (genotype distribution) (OR 1.00, 95% CI 0.76 to 1.33). ACE insertion/deletion polymorphism was not significantly associated with breast cancer risk for the DD (OR 1.00; 95% CI 0.76-1.33), ID, or II genotypes.
