When joining advanced high-strength steels (AHSS) martensitic type with resistance spot welding (RSW), the correct welding schedule is an important production process part for successful assembly. Automotive manufacturers require optimized weld schedules that meet the customer quality requirements to obtain the best weld performance during the life vehicle. In certain instances, modifications to welding parameters like current, pressure and time are made, and the welding performance of the spot weld change, and the mechanical and metallurgical properties are modified. This article presents the heat input (Q) impact of SWP in the weldability, microstructures, mechanical properties, and quality characteristics of the AHSS martensitic type. The microstructure, hardness, and mechanical tensile properties were evaluated according with the different process condition. A neural network model is proposed to predict the contribution of the various welding process parameters (pressure, current, and time) on weld quality parameters.
