A new interpretation of the polymorphic system of norfloxacin is described. Experimental evidence of the enantiotropic relationship between polymorphic forms A and B is provided by means of a solvent-mediated polymorphic transformation. Form B is the most stable one at room temperature, and it is enantiotropically related to the form A. Full characterization of both forms by X-ray crystallography, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), IR, Raman, and solid-state NMR spectroscopy is provided.
