Angiotensin II infusion raises blood pressure by ~13 mm Hg and enhances proximal tubular reabsorption.
Why the study?
The effects of angiotensin II on proximal tubular reabsorption in normal humans under normal salt and water balance were evaluated to understand its impact on renal function.
Does Angiotensin II infusion alter proximal tubular reabsorption in healthy volunteers?
Does Angiotensin II infusion alter proximal tubular reabsorption in healthy volunteers?
In normal humans, Angiotensin II-induced rise in filtration fraction enhances proximal reabsorption of lithium and sodium.

Does not support clinical practice changes; leaves open relevance of this mechanism to hypertension or HF populations.
Usberti et al. (2008) studied Healthy volunteers (n=6). Angiotensin II vs. Baseline (before and after infusion) was evaluated on Proximal tubular reabsorption (fractional excretion of lithium). Angiotensin II infusion in healthy volunteers increased blood pressure (129/83 to 142/95 mm Hg, P<0.01) and reduced fractional excretion of lithium and sodium, enhancing proximal reabsorption.
