Incubation of marinobufagin (1) with cultures of Fusarium lini (BOLLEY) gave the unknown 12β‐hydroxymarinobufagin (2). The structure of 2 was proved by the degradation of its diacetyl derivative 3 to methyl 3, 12‐dioxo‐14‐hydroxy‐Δ4‐14β, 17αH‐etianate (6) which was prepared from the known methyl 3‐oxo‐12β, 14‐dihydroxy‐Δ4‐14β, 17αH‐etianate (5).
