By the interaction of maleic anhydride and meta-aminobenzoic acid, biologically active meta-carboxyphenylmaleinimide was synthesized and its radical copolymerization reaction (M 1 ) with styrene (M 2 ) was carried out.The conditions of the copolymerization reaction, rate, content and molecular weight parameters of the obtained copolymers and the dependence of these parameters on the composition of the initial monomer mixture were determined. With an increase in the amount of m-carboxyphenylmaleimide in the initial monomer mixture, a decrease in the yield of copolymerization reaction and a decrease in the onset temperature of self-initiation of the obtained copolymer samples are observed, while at the same time, a certain increase in the amount of carboxyphenylmaleinimide moieties in the copolymer composition is observed. The relative activities of the monomers in the copolymerization reaction (r 1 and r 2 ) were also calculated using the Fineman-Ross equation, and the values of the Q-e parameters were calculated using the Alfrey-Price formula. The composition and structure of the synthesized copolymer were determined by chromatographic (HPLC-MS) and spectral (IR, NMR spectroscopy) analysis methods, its thermophysical properties were studied by thermal analysis (DTA and TGA methods). The synthesized copolymer has thermal stability up to 330°C.Their bactericidal tests were carried out and it was shown that the synthesized copolymer of maleinmide with styrene has an antibacterial and antifungal effect.İt was determined that the effect of copolymer on fungi cells (Candida albicansdiameter of sterile zones 15 mm) is more effective. As an additive that imparts antibacterial properties to industrially produced polymers, it can be used in medicine as a carriers of biocidal polymeric materials and dosage forms
