Key result
Conservative antibiotic therapy manages late post-TAVR Enterococcus faecalis prosthetic valve endocarditis complicated by embolic strokes.
Why the study?
Few cases of infective endocarditis after transcatheter aortic valve implantation have been reported, highlighting a clinical knowledge gap.
Population
79-year-old male with severe aortic stenosis post TAVR and recent pulmonary vein isolation
Comparison

Alerts clinicians to late enterococcal PVE risk post-TAVR; hypothesis-generating for conservative management in high-risk patients and leaves optimal strategies open.
Case Report (n=1)
This case highlights the occurrence and conservative management of Enterococcus faecalis infective endocarditis on a transcatheter prosthetic aortic valve complicated by embolic strokes in a high-surgical-risk patient.
Rawala et al. (2020) conducted a case report in Prosthetic valve endocarditis after TAVR (n=1). Intravenous antibiotics was evaluated. A 79-year-old male developed prosthetic valve endocarditis and multiple embolic strokes from Enterococcus faecalis bacteremia >1 year post-TAVR, managed conservatively with intravenous antibiotics.
