VO2 Max (maximal oxygen uptake) is a critical measure of cardiovascular and aerobic fitness. It is a measure of the maximum oxygen consumption during vigorous exercise. VO2 Max tends to be greater in athletes compared to non-athletes because of the benefits of training, enhanced cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency. The current study was conducted to determine the differences in VO2 Max between district-level athletes and non-athletes. A sample of 60 male subjects (18-26 years) was chosen for the study, 30 district-level athletes and 30 non-athletes. VO2 Max was determined by the Cooper 12-Minute Run Test. Data were analysed by the independent t-test. The findings showed a significant higher VO2 Max among athletes compared to non-athletes (p < 0.05), indicating a better aerobic fitness among athletes. The study suggests that participating in sports has a positive impact on aerobic capacity and performance.
