(60,7% ; IC 95% : 50,3%-89,1%), majoritairement personnel administratif. L’HTA était associée à l’obésité chez 24 agents (39,3% ; p=0,02). Conclusion. ABSTRACTIntroduction. In Gabon, there are no data on high blood pressure in professional hospital settings. The objective of this preliminary work was to describe the characteristics of arterial hypertension among agents working at the University Hospital Center of Libreville. Methodology. This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional prospective study carried out in December 2018 at the University Hospital Center of Libreville. It included the nursing and administrative staff present and consenting. Age, gender, history of hypertension, tobacco use, stress level, weight, height and blood pressure were recorded. The anonymous data were entered and analyzed using the EPI INFO version 3.5 software. Results. A total of 135 agents participated in the study. The mean age was 43 ± 8 years with extremes of 25 and 64 years. The sex ratio was 0.4. The prevalence of high blood pressure was 45.2% (n = 61; 95% CI: 36.6% - 54.0%). The incidence of new cases was 60.7% (n = 37 ; 95% CI: 50,3%-89,1%), mostly administrative staff. High blood pressure was associated with obesity in 24 agents (39.3%; p = 0.02). Conclusion. The prevention of high blood pressure and the fight against obesity in the professional hospital environment should be a priority. With this in mind, staff screening and information campaigns should be carried out in addition to the periodic visit in order to reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases linked to these risk factors.
