Cardiac MRI characterizes a rare voluminous RV lymphangioma causing acute right heart failure.
Why the study?
Cardiac tumours are rare with variable clinical presentations, and imaging modalities play a key role in diagnosis and characterization.
Case Report (n=1)
Cardiac lymphangioma is a rare benign tumor that can present as right heart failure, and multimodality imaging including MRI is crucial for its characterization.

Adds rare right ventricular tumor case to known heterogeneity of cardiac presentations; leaves open optimal management strategies.
ABSTRACT Cardiac tumours are rare and have variable clinical presentation. We report the case of a 33-year-old patient with no significant past medical history who presented with signs of right heart failure. The cardiac ultrasound showed a voluminous mass inside the right ventricle and atrium. On MRI, the mass was heterogenous, measuring 66X44 mm, fulfilling the criteria of a lymphangioma. A surgical removal was proposed and histopathological examination but not done. The patient passed away a month later. Transthoracic echography helps to diagnose a cardiac mass while the MRI enables to determine the characteristics of the mass. In our context, the treatment is usually not affordable.

Siddikatou et al. (2024) conducted a case report in Cardiac lymphangioma with right heart failure (n=1). Cardiac imaging (Echocardiography and MRI) was evaluated. Cardiac MRI successfully characterized a voluminous right ventricular mass as a suspected cardiac lymphangioma in a 33-year-old man presenting with right heart failure.
