A bonded-type linear piezoelectric motor with four feet is proposed, designed, fabricated and tested. The proposed motor consists of one rectangle-type metal frame and eight pieces of PZT ceramics. The proposed motor works under two vibration modes, in which the vertical and horizontal displacements of the driving feet are generated respectively. Elliptical movements, which can push the runner into linear motion, are produced on the driving feet. The structure and operating principle of the proposed motor are introduced. Typical output of the prototype motor is no-load speed of 613 mm/s and maximum thrust force of 4.6 N.
