We describe what it costs to fly from the United States to New Zealand and how the nonstop market between the two countries has developed. Fares come from a commercial fare-search snapshot of 27 September 2026; traffic from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) T-100 International Segment data, January 1990 to June 2026; visitor arrivals from Stats NZ; and charges from US and New Zealand fee schedules. A round trip averaged USD 1,168 over the past month. The twelve-month median ranged from USD 613 in February to USD 1,010 in July, 1.65 times as much, and the twelve-month average to Auckland ranged from USD 799 from Los Angeles to USD 1,925 from Providence across 42 states. Government charges built into the ticket came to USD 91.81 per adult round trip, 7.9% of the average fare. In the twelve months to June 2026, 1,053,754 passengers flew nonstop between the two countries, 93.5% of the same months of 2018–2019, on 4,778 flights, 7.7% more; passengers per flight fell from 254.2 to 220.5 as seats per flight fell from 316.9 to 283.2, and the load factor was 77.9%. Calendar-year traffic hovered between 0.67 and 0.90 million from 1990 to 2015 before rising above one million from 2016. Auckland handled 98.2% of nonstop passengers, and Air New Zealand carried 59.7%. Stats NZ recorded 384,875 visitor arrivals from the United States in 2025, 4.6% above 2019, of whom 94.6% arrived by air.
