Supports caution with high-dose anthracyclines absent cardioprotection; leaves open optimal prevention strategies.
Anthracycline antibiotics are an important group of widely used and highly eff ective antitumor drugs. However, the cardiotoxicity of anthracyclines included in the polychemotherapy regimens results in the development of cardiovascular diseases both in the early and late rehabilitation period. The article presents a clinical case demonstrating the long-term consequences of highdose polychemotherapy with the onset of heart failure and coronary artery disease.

Ложкина et al. (2022) conducted a case report in Anthracycline cardiomyopathy, heart failure, coronary artery disease (n=1). Anthracycline-based polychemotherapy was evaluated. High-dose anthracycline-based polychemotherapy without cardioprotective therapy resulted in the long-term development of severe heart failure and acute myocardial infarction in a 47-year-old male.
