Key result
Post-SAH Takotsubo cardiomyopathy shows persistent LV systolic dysfunction at 1 year.
Why the study?
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy onset after subarachnoid hemorrhage surgery with persistent left ventricular systolic dysfunction for over 1 year is rare and not well documented.
Population
67-year-old female with subarachnoid hemorrhage after anterior communicating artery aneurysm rupture

Persistent LV dysfunction may follow post-SAH Takotsubo; case reports leave open need for extended surveillance in similar patients.
Case Report (n=1)
IHARA et al. (2016) conducted a case report in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy following subarachnoid hemorrhage (n=1). Aneurysm-clipping surgery was evaluated on Resolution of left ventricular systolic dysfunction. In a 67-year-old woman, left ventricular systolic dysfunction and impaired wall motion persisted for at least 1 year after the onset of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy 7 days post-subarachnoid hemorrhage surgery.
