Key result
Canine parvovirus infection links to ECG abnormalities indicating myocardial involvement.
Why the study?
Canine parvoviral infection often results in systemic complications including myocardial involvement, necessitating evaluation of cardiac function in infected dogs.
Observational
Observational study reveals significant electrocardiographic abnormalities in dogs with canine parvovirus, indicating acute myocardial involvement and conduction disturbances.
Canine parvoviral infection is a highly contagious disease that often results in systemic complications, including myocardial involvement. The present study evaluated cardiac function in canine parvovirus infected dogs to characterize myocardial involvement. ECG abnormalities included sinus arrhythmia, wandering pacemaker, increased Q-wave amplitude, ST elevation, tachycardia and shorter P-amplitude, PR and QT intervals.

Sanjay et al. (2026) conducted an observational in Canine parvovirus infection. Canine parvovirus infection was evaluated on Cardiac function and myocardial involvement (ECG and echocardiographic changes). Canine parvovirus infection was associated with ECG abnormalities including sinus arrhythmia, wandering pacemaker, ST elevation, and tachycardia, indicating myocardial involvement.
