Microsporida are ubiquitous spore-forming protozoans that most commonly infect arthropods and fish but also can infect other invertebrates and vertebrates including mammals (1, 2).A 20-year-old black man had had progressive generalized muscle weakness with contractures for 7 months and fever, generalized lymphadenopathy, and an 18-kg weight loss over the last 5 months. He admitted to having had one homosexual contact (passive oral-genital) 1 year before admission. His close friends, including a female sexual partner; his family; and the previous...References1.
