For example, in 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched new programs authorized by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015. This act created the Merit-based Incentive Payment System, which provides for new ways to pay for care, including bundled payment programs.
