Botulinum toxin-augmented stellate ganglion block serves as an effective bridge in electrical storm.
Why the study?
Electrical Storm is a medical emergency with high morbidity and mortality, and the autonomic nervous system's role in its pathogenesis is increasingly recognized.
Case Report (n=3)
This case series describes the use of botulinum toxin-augmented stellate ganglion block for electrical storm as a bridge to palliation, ablation, and sympathectomy.
Should not yet change electrical storm management; hypothesis-generating for botulinum toxin-augmented stellate ganglion block.
Electrical Storm (ES) is defined as three or more episodes of sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT), ventricular fibrillation (VF), or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) therapies within 24 hours 1. It is a medical emergency with high morbidity and mortality, particularly if accompanied by haemodynamic collapse. Although traditional therapies include antiarrhythmic escalation and catheter ablation, the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is increasingly recognised as a driver of these arrhythmias; specifically, overactivation of the sympathetic nervous system can initiate and perpetuate ES 1,2.

Muthurajah et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Electrical storm (n=3). Botulinum toxin-augmented stellate ganglion block was evaluated. Botulinum toxin-augmented stellate ganglion block was utilized in a 3-case series for electrical storm as a bridge to palliation, ablation, and sympathectomy.
