A large number of high-density SnO 2 microwires with lengths reaching the millimeter scale were grown inside alumina boats using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. A single PEDOT:PSS/SnO 2 microwire p-n junction ultraviolet photodetector was fabricated by coating p-type poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) on one side of a single SnO 2 microwire, and its detection performance for 308 nm UV light was investigated. The single PEDOT:PSS/SnO 2 microwire photodetector exhibits a responsivity of 0.95 mA/W, a specific detectivity of 5.7 × 10 10 Jones, and response/recovery times of 0.498/0.556 s under 0 V bias. Five months later, the ultraviolet detection performance of the photodetector was re-tested under a 308 nm light source, and it was found that the photocurrent value did not change significantly, indicating that the device has good stability and repeatability. This study provides a simple and effective method for the fabrication of high-performance SnO 2 based self-powered UV photodetectors.
