Prospective observational study examines predictors of worsening renal function in acute heart failure, highlighting risks of prolonged hospitalization and adverse clinical outcomes.
Background: Worsening renal function (WRF) is a frequent and clinically important complication among patients hospitalized with acute heart failure (AHF), leading to increased morbidity, prolonged hospitalization, and poor clinical outcomes. Early identification of patients at high risk of WRF may facilitate timely intervention and improve prognosis. Aim of the study: To identify the predictors of worsening renal function in patients hospitalized with acute heart failure and evaluate its association with in-hospital clinical outcomes. Methods & Materials: This prospective observational study was conducted in the Departments of Nephrology and Cardiology at Bangladesh Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, from June 2023 to March 2025. A total of 58 adult patients admitted with acute heart failure and baseline serum creatinine
