This study aims to analyze the comparison of using water and 96% ethanol solvents in the extraction of mangosteen pericarp (Garcinia mangostana L.) as a natural dye for Jambi Batik featuring the Kapal Sanggat motif, compare the results with synthetic Indigosol dye, and develop an interactive flipbook as enrichment material for high school Biology. This qualitative descriptive study was conducted at Rumah Produksi Batik Siti Hajir, Jambi City, from May to July 2026. Data were collected from 4 batik artisans and 4 consumers through observation, interviews, and digital color analysis (Color Name app). Mangosteen pericarp extraction using 96% ethanol yielded a deeper dark brown color (Dark Olive / Dark Brown) with superior fiber penetration and colorfastness following iron (tunjung) fixation compared to water extraction, which yielded a yellowish-brown shade (Saddle Brown). Natural dyes proved significantly more eco-friendly than Indigosol. Artisans and consumers exhibited highly positive responses toward the aesthetics and sustainability of mangosteen natural dye. The findings were successfully compiled into an interactive flipbook via Heyzine for High School Grade X Biodiversity topic.
