Motivation is an essential factor in effective personnel management because it influences employee behavior, job satisfaction, and organizational performance. This article reviews key theoretical approaches to employee motivation, including Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Herzberg's two-factor theory, Vroom's expectancy theory, equity theory, and the Porter–Lawler model. It considers the relationship between working conditions, financial rewards, recognition, and performance, as well as the manager's role in establishing a supportive work environment and effective incentive systems. The discussion indicates that motivation strategies are most useful when they take account of both individual needs and organizational circumstances.
