Aiming to expand the use of Japanese cedar, a wooden truss for medium-sized buildings was developed utilizing JAS structural lumber in standard sizes. MPC (Metal plate connector) was used for joints, and strength values were determined based on experimental results. A design workflow was presented in which the cross-sectional area of the member and the MPC area are determined based on the axial force obtained from analyses modeling the joints as pin connections. Full-scale trusses designed for general facilities and livestock barns were constructed. Bending test results confirmed that the proposed design method can ensure the required performance.
