There is an upper-floor demolition method in which heavy machinery is loaded onto slabs for dismantling the building. Heavy machinery is loaded onto slab and is affected by the slab’s live load. Therefore, it’s essential to consider strengthening the slab against impact loads, such as shoring system. To address this issue, it’s desirable to develop a demolition method that doesn’t rely on the slab structure. A demolition method called the Bridge Method has been developed as a solution. This paper provides an overview of the Bridge Method and its construction, and of conventional methods regarding structural calculation results and achievements.
