This essay is a small window into the unfolding creation process of a cyber Marcus Garvey built on Afro-digital ethics, Black epistemology, and the interdisciplinary framework of Black Studies. It borrows from critical fabulation, embodiment, deep learning, and oral history to form a theoretical and methodological structure for a Garvey large language model. Its key argument is three-fold: (1) It must find a way to inject Black knowledge and aesthetic into computer systems; it posits a theoretical and procedural approach to constructing an entity that empowers Blackness within the computational world Black Studies plays an essential role in this process; and (3) it cannot fail to take up this mantle of responsibility. This process may or may not be faulty, but its underlining goal is for Black Studies scholars to collectively build digital tools that educate, protect, and empower in a fast approaching and unrestrained AI world.
