A mild and general protocol for the regioselective ortho ‐hydroxyl migration of N ‐arylhydroxamates is reported. This method employs N ‐chlorophthalimide and Ph 2 EtP in dichloromethane at room temperature, proceeding via a simple one‐pot procedure from readily accessible substrates. The transformation exhibits excellent functional group tolerance and a broad substrate scope, delivering diverse ortho ‐aminophenol derivatives in good to excellent yields. This protocol provides practical access to valuable ortho ‐aminophenol scaffolds.
