People living with HIV experience a disproportionate burden of vaccine-preventable infections. This retrospective audit assessed the proportion of patients with adequate vaccination against hepatitis B, human papillomavirus, pneumococcus and influenza within an Australian HIV service. There was a significantly higher proportion ( p < 0.001) with adequate hepatitis B vaccination (47.9%), compared to pneumococcal conjugate (19.0%), pneumococcal polysaccharide (6.6%), and human papillomavirus (7.4%) vaccination. Influenza vaccination rates (30.6%) were similar to general population rates in Western Australia. Adequate vaccination requires review to prevent hepatitis B acquisition and HPV-associated neoplasia, particularly in the context of tenofovir-free antiretroviral regimens and routine anal cancer screening.
