Adipose tissue dysregulation: Advancing metabolic health through endocrine and inflammatory research This article examines how dysregulation of adipose tissue contributes to chronic diseases and discusses recent research aimed at improving preventive strategies for lifelong health. Metabolic diseases have become one of the greatest public health challenges of the twenty-first century. Worldwide increases in obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular disease (CVD), neurodegenerative disorders, and chronic inflammatory conditions continue to place tremendous burdens on healthcare systems. Although these diseases are traditionally studied independently, growing evidence suggests they share common biological mechanisms centered on chronic inflammation and metabolic dysfunction. (1–3)
