The Marvel comics industry has grown rapidly, with thousands of character designs created. Of the many character designs created in Marvel's comics, few Asian characters have been created. In 1970, comic writer Steve Englehart created a superhero named Shang-Chi, illustrated by Jim Starlin. In that year, American and Asian comics often featured martial arts themes. The changes in Shang-Chi's character design are interesting to examine, as they differ from the original character in not only appearance but also costume. The analysis in this study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a manga matrix approach to examine changes in character elements that will be examined in detail. Therefore, the proposed TKT (Test of Concentration) is level 1, which analyzes the basic principles of character creation. This is expected to serve as a reference in creating character designs for comics using the manga matrix approach, thus creating characters that align with the comic's setting.
