The choice editing factsheet looks at how changes to the availability, visibility and presentation of food can support more sustainable choices, including alternative proteins. It is based on insights from 3,729 consumers participating in LIKE-A-PRO Living Labs across 11 European countries. Consumers generally responded more positively to gradual changes and attractive alternatives than to sudden restrictions. Acceptance also depends on understanding why changes are being made and perceiving them as fair and affordable. The findings suggest that choice editing works best when it increases attractive sustainable options, protects consumer choice and accessibility, and is introduced transparently and with consideration for affected stakeholders.
