The results of triaxial compression tests of the loams composing the body of the North Dam of the Mezhrechenskoye Reservoir are presented. To assess the influence of the initial loam density, soil samples were tested at initial void ratio values of 0.55; 0.65; and 0.75. Samples were tested at 20% moisture content and in a water-saturated state using a kinematic loading scheme. Experimental dependencies of the deformation module value on the initial density were established at a moisture content of 20% and in the water-saturated state of the samples. Experimental patterns of volumetric deformations from hydrostatic pressure have been established. The research results can be utilized in the design and operation of earth dams in the Muynak district of Karakalpakstan.
