This study analyzed the archtectural characteristics of ancillary buildings, called as “NAGAYA” in rural dwellins around the Akiyoshidai pleateau area of Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. We conducted field and historical survey to reveal the transition of plan, section, site, facade and framework on “NAGAYA” since the modern era. As a result, the impact of transitions in geographical conditions and residential/agricultural environments on the architectural characteristics of ancillary buildings “NAGAYA”, and the rural landscape became clear.
