Teacher performance is related to the leadership quality of madrasah heads, both through interpersonal relationships and organizational management skills. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Leader–Member Exchange (LMX) and managerial skills of madrasah heads with the performance of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers in Way Kanan Regency, Lampung. The study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design. A total of 195 teachers were selected using proportionate random sampling techniques from a population of 448 teachers in 38 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics version 20. The results showed that LMX had a positive and significant partial relationship with teacher performance (B = 0.684; p = 0.027), while managerial skills did not show a significant partial relationship (B = −0.525; p = 0.734). The regression model was reported to be significant simultaneously (F = 98.856; p < 0.001) with a determination coefficient of 0.608. However, the simultaneous results came from a model that included three predictors, so the contribution could not be attributed to only two main variables. This study shows the importance of differentiating the quality of interpersonal relationships and managerial skills in understanding teacher performance.
