Teachers frequently face work-related pressures that may reduce their willingness to engage in Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), which is essential for improving school effectiveness. This study aimed to examine the effect of work stress on teachers’ OCB, analyze the influence of Islamic values on OCB, and investigate the moderating role of Islamic values in the relationship between work stress and OCB. The study employed a quantitative approach using a moderated regression design. Data were collected from 243 madrasah teachers selected through stratified random sampling. The research instruments consisted of work stress, Islamic values, and OCB scales, which were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The findings revealed that work stress had a significant negative effect on OCB (β = -0.383, p < 0.001), indicating that higher levels of work stress tend to reduce teachers’ extra-role behaviors. Islamic values had a significant positive effect on OCB (β = 0.356, p < 0.001), demonstrating that the internalization of Islamic values encourages prosocial behavior among teachers. Furthermore, Islamic values significantly moderated the relationship between work stress and OCB (β = 0.198, p < 0.001), weakening the negative impact of work stress on OCB. These results suggest that Islamic values function as an important psychological resource that helps teachers maintain positive organizational behavior despite experiencing work-related stress.
