NEP 2020, the latest addition into the education sector of India fostering goals of Vikshit Bharat 2047. The policy introduces a transformative, multidisciplinary approach complimenting the traditional system of education. By removing strict boundaries among various disciplines (especially in higher education), it allows student centric curriculum on the basis of individual interests. Through multiple entry and exit, the framework promotes critical thinking, creativity and real-world problem-solving approach. By integrating TEM (Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects within humanities, arts and vocational courses NEP provokes the potential to meet the demands of modernised global economy. Assam, one of the emerging hubs of education in NE India, has actively rolled into the NEP curriculum integrating schools, colleges and universities. The holistic and multidisciplinary approach allows students to combine regional disciplines, improving local employability. Mandatory skill based and vocational courses enhances career flexibility. Contrary, lack of proper infrastructure and faculty shortage amalgamate into challenges for proper functioning.
