Tactical microgrids in remote and mission-critical environments must ensure reliable power, reduce fuel use, and maintain acoustic stealth under uncertain renewable generation. However, most existing control strategies are either rule-based or single-objective, which limits their ability to handle these conflicting goals in real time. This paper proposes a mission-aware Model Predictive Control (MPC) framework for a hybrid PV–battery–diesel microgrid. The approach directly embeds mission priorities into the dispatch problem using a rolling-horizon optimization. A key novelty is the Survival Override mechanism, which protects battery reserves under solar forecast uncertainty and helps prevent mission failure. The framework is validated through co-simulation using Python and DIgSILENT PowerFactory with realistic solar data. The results show a 61.9% reduction in fuel consumption compared to conventional control. At the same time, the system maintains voltage stability and supports up to 20 hours of continuous silent operation. The controller also handles forecast errors of up to 15% through 15-minute receding horizon updates, avoiding early battery depletion and inefficient generator use.Overall, the proposed approach improves microgrid resilience, reduces fuel logistics, and enhances operational performance without requiring additional system capacity.
