The article is devoted to the study of the prerequisites and methodology for the formation of a private methodology for the investigation of high-tech crimes within the framework of forensic science. Given the pace of digitalization in society, it is emphasized that it is necessary to work pro-actively in this regard. The author supports the position of scientists who advocate for the forensic analysis of high-tech crimes as an independent group, believing that this will allow for the rapid development of a balanced set of techniques, tools, and methods for their detection and investigation. It is noted that in order to ensure a systematic and eff ective counteraction to illegal acts committed using information and communication technologies, the eff orts of legislators, law enforcement agencies, and scientists in various fields of knowledge must be combined. Interaction should be carried out on an ongoing basis, based on an interdisciplinary and systematic approach. It is emphasized that the response to the challenges of the time should be the training of a new generation of investigators who have the skills to work not only in the legal fi eld, but also in the fi eld of information technology.
